The Assignment

After the lockdown was lifted, we were instructed to begin our wayfinding module. Our assignment was to choose a public area nearby and create a wayfinding system for it, complete with a map. Even though Cubbon Park had not yet reopened to the public, we believed we could still do the project justice by relying on our memories. By recalling the weekends we had spent at the park and the various types of people we had encountered there, we were able to grasp the park's user base and the challenges they faced.

As we delved deeper into our research, we stumbled upon aspects of the park that we had not previously known about. We made certain to integrate these findings into our wayfinding system.

Our objective was not only to aid first-time park visitors in finding their way but also to expose frequent park-goers to a different aspect of the park. We understood that providing information was critical in capturing the users' attention and demonstrating the park's additional features. Photographers, for example, could learn about the park's bird species, while birdwatchers could learn about the ecosystem.
